2010 Award Winners

MPI Toronto Chapter recognized their outstanding members at its annual Awards  Gala on March 10, 2011. The gala honoured those members who have demonstrated keen dedication to the meetings industry.

2010 Award Winners

Recruiter of the Year

Julie Holmen, Tourism Toronto

The Recruiter of the Year Award is awarded to the MPI Toronto Chapter member who recruits the most new members as determined by the ‘referred by’ line on new MPI Toronto Chapter application forms.

Norm Neill Student Award

Kyra Whale, Ryerson University

The Norm Neill Student Award is given to a current full-time, post-secondary student in good standing of the MPI Toronto Chapter. They are evaluated based on their community/industry/school service, other awards and professional recognition, chapter participation, scholastic merit, placement/co-op experience and references.

New Member of the Year

The New Member of the Year is awarded to an individual who has been a supplier or planner member of MPI for a minimum of six months, but not more than two years, and who has demonstrated a keen dedication to MPI.

Outstanding Volunteer of the Year

The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year is awarded to a supplier, planner or student member (excluding the current MPI Toronto board members) who made an outstanding voluntary effort to the Chapter. This individual has been an active participant on one or more MPI Toronto Chapter committees; designed, organized, delivered or administered new and ongoing programs for the MPI Toronto Chapter; volunteers for other meeting industry or charitable organizations; and demonstrates a keen and sustained commitment to volunteering for MPI. Most of all, they should embody the spirit of volunteerism.

Planner Member of the Year

The Planner Member of the Year is awarded to a Planner who has made an outstanding contribution to MPI. Considerations include being a member of another industry-related association or organization; published articles; public speaking engagements; awards and/or professional recognition; MPI participation (International and/or Chapter); accreditation in their field; and Continuing Education.

President’s Award

The President’s Award is awarded at the discretion of the President, to an individual in the meetings industry who has made an outstanding contribution. This Award can be presented to anyone within the industry, regardless of membership status. The President must have two MPI Toronto Chapter members provide written support of the nomination as well.
